What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link is an ordinary link that carries a code identifying us. If you follow it and later buy something, the merchant pays us a percentage. You pay the same price you would have paid otherwise. The commission comes out of the merchant's margin, not out of your pocket.

How you can tell

Every affiliate link on this site carries a visible paid link marker next to it, and is tagged in the page source with rel="sponsored nofollow". There are no unmarked affiliate links anywhere on this site. If you find one, that is a bug and we want to hear about it at hello@thqt.me.

This is required as well as right. The Advertising Standards Council of India's guidelines for influencer advertising in digital media require a prominent, unambiguous disclosure of a material connection, as do the endorsement provisions under the Consumer Protection Act 2019. The US Federal Trade Commission requires the same for American readers.

What we will not do

• Recommend something we would not recommend without a commission
• Rank options by what they pay rather than by what they do
• Write a comparison whose conclusion was decided by the commission rate
• Hide a competitor because they have no affiliate programme
• Present a product as tested if we have not used it
• Use an affiliate link inside a tool's result, where you are trying to finish a task

Where a genuinely better option has no affiliate programme, we say so and link to it anyway, unmarked, earning nothing. That will happen and it is fine.

Advertising

Some pages carry advertising served by Google AdSense, labelled as advertisements and visually separated from our own writing. We do not control which specific ads appear. We do control where ad slots exist, and we deliberately keep them off the homepage, off every tool's input area, and off any page in the signup path.

We will never ask you to click an ad, and doing so would breach Google's policies as well as being pointless.

Why we do it at all

The tools on this site are free and have no signup. Advertising and affiliate commissions are what pay for them, alongside subscriptions to the THQT app itself. Without them the honest alternatives would be putting the tools behind an email wall or shutting them down, and both are worse.

We would rather tell you plainly how this is funded than pretend it runs on goodwill.

Our own product

Links to the THQT app are not affiliate links. THQT is our own product and we obviously have an interest in you using it. We mention it where it is genuinely the next step and not in the middle of a task you are trying to finish.
